A couple weeks ago, AETY's 2011-2012 Executive Board went on a 36 hour retreat to the URJ Kutz Camp in Warwick, NY.  Here are some of the thoughts from three our board members.

Adam-garrettGarrett Kohn
Vice President of AETY
East Brunswick High School, 2013

What did you do at the board retreat?
We learned techniques on how to lead a group of people, write programs, engage everyone in activity, use the social media to our advantage, tweet, and make all our programs above and beyond! Each and every meeting consisted of extraordinary creativity and ideas, with a great balance of maturity and professionalism.

What was the best part of the retreat for you?
Personally, my favorite part of the retreat was learning how to write programs in proper program format. This was my favorite part, because it made me so excited for all of AETY’s fun-filled programs in store for this year!

What AETY event are you most excited for this year?
One of the most exciting events that I cannot wait for is the AETY/JAETY Retreat.  Nothing could beat a JAM-packed weekend, with the AETY Board and all the JAETY participants, full of learning, fun, and bonding. In addition, I love the annual AETY Pasta Dinner. It is a great representation of how important AETY is to the entirecongregation and to all the members of Anshe Emeth.

Adam Rothstein
Social Action Vice President
South Brunswick High School, 2012

What did you do at the board retreat?
At the board retreat we went through programming on learning how to be a very successful leader and how to be a role model for other kids in the youth group. We
also started to write programs for the upcoming AETY year.

What was the best part of the retreat for you?
The best part of the board retreat was being able to work with the board and bond with the board. I liked this the most because I can really tell how much potential this
board has and how much of a great year this is going to be!!

What was your favorite program during the retreat?
The best program of the board retreat was the program about how to successfully lead discussions in a program and also how to talk in front of a large group of people. I liked this program the best because I could really connect with it and I also learned a lot of techniques that will help me become more confident in leading.

What is the most exciting thing for AETY in 2011-2012?
I believe the most exciting thing for AETY this year is the new, creative and fun calendar of events!  AETY has a lot of great things planned and it is definitely going to be an exciting year!

What AETY event are you most excited for this year?
The event I am most excited for is AETY’s trip to NYC. This is going to be a very fun and exhilarating event and I can’t wait for it to come! I really like the city and all it has to offer!

Taylin-AlyssaTaylin Leibowitz
Co-Freshman Rep.
Piscataway High School 2015

What did you do at the board retreat?
We started working on programs for events and did a couple activites to get to know each other.

What was the best part of the retreat for you?
The best part of the retreat for me was knowing that everyone there are going to be able to help me if I'm stuck on what do because it's my first year on board and it's a little bit intimidating.

What was your favorite program during the retreat?
My favorite program on the retreat was when we wrote fake tweets. It was really funny but we also learned what to do when we have to tweet seriously during events.

What is the most exciting thing for AETY in 2011-2012?
The most exciting thing for AETY this year is the trip to Cincinnati because I don't think any of us have been there and it will be a fun learning experience and be exciting to travel with all of our friends.

What AETY event are you most excited for this year?
I'm most excited for the AETY/JAETY retreat because I went on it both times when I was in JAETY and it'll be cool to experience it from the side that is running the event.
