The Music of Naomi Shemer
December 14 Naomi Shemer (1930-2004) was one of Israel’s most important and prolific song writers, considered by many to be “the First Lady of Israeli Song.” Her virtuosic use of the Hebrew language and her stirring melodies combined to create some of Israel’s most readily identified anthems, such as Yerushalayim Shel Zahav and Al Kol Eileh. Cantor Ott will be joined by Makhelat Anshe Emet and Shirei Emet in this musical tribute to one of Israel’s great musical figures. |

Mary and Samuel Hamelsky Music Shabbat
Celebrate Israel at 60! April 11 On Thursday May 8, 2008, we celebrate the 60th birthday of the State of Israel. Our entire year at Anshe Emeth is being dedicated to study of everything that is Israel, and that of course includes music of her history and people. Take a trip with Cantor Ott and our two senior choirs as we explore Israel through music. |

Saturday, March 1 • 8:00 PM
Music is a very important part of worship at Anshe Emeth. And the talent of the singers and players that make it is definitely “a cut above.” Please join us for this first in a series of “cabaret nights” that will showcase our talent, anchored by Cantor Ott and the Awesome Band, singing and playing out in a non-liturgical setting. Hear Jewish and Israeli pop as well as selections from “The Great American Songbook,” many of whose composers were Jewish. |

After an entire year of services and special programs, we focus on the music and the singers and players who make it. It is Anshe Emeth music at its very best. Bring the entire mishpocha for this very special free evening of Havdalah, great music, and great desserts! |
